ABSTRACT

In this final section of the book, I will review the suggestions made for doing something about compassion fatigue, along with my own. Because the book is devoted to treating compassion fatigue, we presented the theoretical and empirical justification for doing so in the first section. That section also includes the first step in doing something about the problem: taking the self-test for helpers. This test helps us determine the degree to which we are at risk of developing burnout and developing compassion fatigue, and the degree to which we derive satisfaction from our compassionate efforts.
