ABSTRACT

Promoting the health of infants and young children is a central plank of contemporary public health. It is regularly argued in public health forums that if health-promoting habits and good health can be established in early childhood, then the groundwork is laid for optimal health in later life. Government-sponsored health communication mass media campaigns and other mass-distributed media such as pamphlets, as well as privately published materials such as pregnancy and parenting manuals, are frequently employed to convey to parents the importance of promoting their children’s health and development.
