Counseling Caucasian Fathers: Affirming Cultural Strengths While Addressing White Male Privilege
Working with fathers offers unique opportunities and challenges for therapists to navigate. Cultural influences, economic pressures, and family structures can strongly influence how fathers feel about themselves and their involvement with their families. Caucasian fathers are not immune to these pressures. Counselors can benefit from broadening their conceptualizations and intervention approaches to help Caucasian fathers cope with the unique challenges they face as majority men.
