ABSTRACT

Legume seeds contain a large amount of storage protein and are one of the essential food sources for humans and animals. Soybean provides a key nutritional food supply for Asian countries and peas are an important food for African and Latin American countries (1). Like soybeans and peas, beans such as French, common, garden, kidney, and snap are also important food sources on a worldwide basis and their genetic stock, favored for dry seeds, constitutes about 30% of the total world legume production.
