This chapter presents ideas and concepts about ‘language’ and ‘reality’. It

establishes certain connections about their relationship – in other words it

‘theorizes’ about what connects ‘language’ and ‘reality’, how words and

worlds are implicated in each other. It achieves this by presenting some

theories which propose certain links between the two concepts and establish

the importance of language in the making of social realities. Theories are, of

course, simply a way of understanding the world and its phenomena and

offer a systematic framework to make sense of the world.
