Governments throughout the world have increasingly sought to find means to revitalise rural communities. Although a number of tactics have been tried, the introduction or elevation of tourism has become a common tactic to increase rural revenue (Luloff, Bridger, Graefe, Saylor, Martin, & Gitelson, 1994; Kneafsey, 2000), with recreational sport serving as a key tourist attraction (Roberts & Hall, 200]).
