Simon Hudson, Brent Ritchie and Seldjan Timur MEASURING DESTINATION COMPETITIVENESS : A N EMPIRICAL
This particular study was an attempt to operationalize a model of destination competitiveness in order to measure the relative competitiveness of ski resorts in Canada. The skiing market has reached the maturity stage in Canada. However, despite increasing consolidation and competitive rivalry, no systematic effort has been made to compare resorts on attributes other than infrastructure (e.g. number of ski lifts) or satisfaction ratings from readers of ski magazines. Further research would offer these destinations a mechanism for analyzing, diagnosing, planning and communicating their competitive strategies.
