PATRICIA ARREDONDO: The Client Who Inspired
WithHer Therapist
Pages 6

Sandy was Arredondo’s very first client upon becoming licensed, a woman who needed to talk to someone about some family conflicts. As a first impression, Sandy appeared both depressed and helpless; she was the kind of person who practically invited you to take care of her. Although she had obtained a paraprofessional degree in civil engineering, and worked hard in her job, she talked about herself as a complete failure. Of particular concern to her was a very conflicted relationship with her mother, who was suffering from emphysema.
