ABSTRACT

The reality of urbicide1 (in parallel to the notion of genocide) was perpetuated in Sarajevo during the recent war and brought the world’s attention to the destruction of the city. During that time, Sarajevo, strangled deep in the bottom of a valley, surrounded by mountains and the Serbs’ guns, was receiving thousands of shells daily. Like the rest of the world, I was appalled by the atrocities, the force, and the destructive energies pounded on that city.
