Levels of action learning, and holding groups to the experience


I have enough experience of action learning to know that when it works well, it can have the kind of fundamental impact on management practice that most other vehicles for learning cannot achieve. However, I long ago came to the conclusion that facilitating learning sets, like management, is mostly an art – and it is tricky. There are no absolute guarantees that it will work, there are many reasons for it being a more challenging process than most learning interventions, and it does not suit every situation.
