Studying Gender Consciousness and Privilege

Vigorous debate about the benefits of single-sex and coeducational schools for females and males has occurred internationally since the 1980s. We joined the debate because of the research opportunity provided by two Catholic high schools in the same geographical area that were changing from singlesex to coeducation; one female and one male. Another Catholic high school in the same geographical area that reaffirmed its commitment to remain allfemale provided a comparable single-sex school.
