Violence and consent in a peasant society
The aim of this chapter is to explore the class situation in rural Bangladesh, to situate hegemonic relations imposed on the civil society by the military society within the state structure and to examine the correspondence between the two. It also focuses on violence generated by the corresponding relation enforced within the two positions: class and hegemonic relations. Hence, the relational moment is composed of two elements: class violence and hegemonic violence. The specificity of the link between class and hegemony is the specificity of the hegemonic link (Laclau & Monffe 1985).
