ABSTRACT
This section explores some of the popular enhancements to the Internet and Web applications. Intranets, in particular, are powerful business enablers that provide the benefit of the Internet to organizations (e.g., a standard use of a Web browser as an application interface), while protecting against some of the common exposures (e.g., security threats). Intranets have the capacity to bring a lot of the core internal corporate applications under a single umbrella. This includes such processes as Human Resource (HR) systems, time and expenses (T&E), purchasing modules, invoicing, and employee benefit enrollment.
