ABSTRACT

Analysts predict a near-exponential wireless Internet market growth to be seen over the next three years. And it is easy to see why, with estimates that in the United States alone, there are currently more than 40 million households online; but there more than 75 million mobile phone subscribers and over 40 million paging subscribers. IDC has forecast that by mid2001, all digital mobile phones shipped in the world will be Internet capable. With average wireless subscribers changing their mobile phones once a year, this means that by the end of 2002, there will be more wireless subscribers capable of Internet access than wired Internet users.
