ABSTRACT

The limited knowledge about immigrants living in Poland and the research gaps existing in the field formed the main motives behind this publication. Practical challenges, as well as theoretical gaps, call for the intensification of research efforts in the migration field, including immigrant entrepreneurship. The decision to start a project on immigrant entrepreneurship in Poland was fostered by the observation of many research gaps existing in the field. The team of researchers from the biggest Polish universities, the University of Warsaw and the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, has been established to design and execute a study project. After the initial general analysis of the research field, the team determined that the topic not only provides many new areas to be explored but can be feasible due to team members’ experiences. The chapter also presents an overview on the key concepts discussed in this book.
