ABSTRACT

The chapter discusses the motivation for setting up companies by immigrant entrepreneurs. The results of the research are based on the study conducted among the five groups of immigrant entrepreneurs, from selected countries of the Far East, who conduct their companies in Poland. The study indicates that Polish people have a very specific attitude about employing foreigners and despite good education among immigrants, it is not always easy for them to find a job. Even if employment opportunities arise, they often choose their own business, which can lead them to greater profits. There is an enormous thread of support among representatives of all ethnic groups for the enterprise path in the community in which they live. This support was of great importance in making decisions. Market conditions or skills are not as influential on the decision about being entrepreneurial as the role of the entrepreneurial atmosphere in the community the immigrant lives in.
