The effect of the corrosive environments over high strength concrete
ABSTRACT: This research presents the influence of the aggressive environments over the physical-mechanical characteristics of the high strength concrete with steel fibers. The studied concrete class is C80/95. The concrete specimens were kept for 4.7 years in aggressive chemical solutions of: 1% (Na2SO4 + MgSO4); 1% (NH4)2SO4 and 2% (NH4)2SO4. Witness specimens corresponding to those kept in aggressive environments were also tested. The following physical-mechanical characteristics were analyzed: the compression and the tensile strength, the modulus of elasticity and the bond between the reinforcement and the concrete. Our results show that the high strength concrete performs satisfactorily when subjected to long term aggressive environments.
