Influence of local steel corrosion on shear failure mechanism of RC linear members
ABSTRACT: Local bond-loss of a rebar by steel corrosion will change the shear resistance mechanism of Reinforced Concrete (RC) members. The location of the steel corrosion is one of the important information for considering the structural performance of RC beams. The objective of this study is to clarify the influence of localized corrosion along longitudinal steel bars on the shear resistance mechanism of RC linear members. A series of unidirectional static loading tests of RC slender beams were conducted. Finite Element Method (FEM) was also conducted for analyzing the failure progress of the RC beams. Finally, the shear resistance mechanism of RC beams having locally corroded longitudinal steel bars is described.
