Behaviour of a crack submitted to a fluid penetration
ABSTRACT: This paper deals with the problem of the injection of a viscous fluid in a penny shaped crack in concrete, modelled as an elastic impermeable and linear material. On the one hand, we consider the linear fracture mechanics theory in order to link the crack opening and the pressure exerted on the crack lips. On the other hand, we study the flow considering the lubrication approximation, which can be used because of the weak ratio between the opening and the length of the crack. The pressure field in the fluid is thus linked to the crack opening. The problem combining these two approaches is numerically solved, and results obtained in the case of an entering flow rate chosen as a rectangular pulse are presented.
