Probability Assessments for the Use of Geometrical Metadata
ByFrançois Vauglin
Pages 12

Vector geographical data bases (GDB) contain data dealing with geometry and space (shape and location) linked with descriptive or attribute data. As digitising processes are not perfectly deterministic, some problems due to imprecise geometry occur, such as slivers in overlay. This chapter is a theoretical study that aims to provide GDBs with coherent metadata on positional accuracy, as well as rules for the correct use of these geometrical metadata.
