Conclusion: What We Have Learned about Becoming Lean
In this book we started with an overview of lean manufacturing, using as our model the Toyota Production System (TPS). We gave example after example of plants that are in some stage of making the "lean leap," in Jim Womack's terms, and in each case obtained outstanding results. We've also heard from some veterans reflecting on their experiences in implementing lean. We provided many individual case studies, each listing their lessons learned, and then provided additional lessons learned in Part Three of the book. Looking across all this information, what have we learned about the process of "becoming lean?"
