ABSTRACT

A green route for the synthesis of heterocyclic ligand and their Schiff base metal complexes are followed to get minimization of time and solvent and high yield. Metal complexes derivatives of 2,4-diiodo-6-(((5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)imino)methyl)phenol, HL with the metal ions Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd (II) have been successfully synthesized by using microwave (MW) irradiation method. The complexes formed by the MW irradiation method are characterized quantitatively and qualitatively by using the following technique, i.e., elemental analysis, UV-Vis spectroscopy, FT-IR, mass spectroscopy, 1H & 13C-NMR, magnetic susceptibility, and molar conductance. The spectral study, all the complexes formed as a dimeric in structure and the center metal are six-coordinated with octahedral geometry. The preliminary in vitro antibacterial and antifungal screening activity explains that most of the metal complexes showed moderate to excellent activity against tested bacterial strains S. aureus and B. subtilis and fungal 262strains A. Niger and F. Oxysporum higher compared to the ligand, HL by using Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method.
