ABSTRACT
Bisexuality as a valid sexual identity position has become legitimated in recent years. More and more people are “coming out of the bisexual closet”. This chapter addresses the ways in which monogamy has been conceptualised both historically and in contemporary Western society. Previous research has tended to concentrate on monogamy from a mononormative perspective, focusing on heterosexual and/or homosexual relationships. Consequently, the experiences of bisexual women and monogamy have been received little attention from researchers.
