ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the challenges of artists in the Academy through the eyes of a professional actor and dancer’s lived experience as theatre professors in a higher ed institution. The visibility and invisibility experienced by these artists is framed through an archetypal Trickster lens, and this lens opens up a conversation about how artists are taught to think and do and connect or disconnect with cultures. The view from this very specific bridge is intended to open a conversation about how artists can serve cultures by creating new ways to teach human beings the art of being human.
