The author describes how a situation can evolve that entails a large group of distressed students, especially when cultural and individual identities, the intersection of societal and political circumstances, and generational and hegemonic beliefs become intertwined. As noted by the author, these potentially volatile encounters must be negotiated sensitively yet definitively.
