ABSTRACT

Cognitive radio–wireless sensor network (CR-WSN) is a combination of CR and wireless sensor network. This focuses mainly on spectrum sensing, which empowers the opportunity of sensors to access the licensed spectrum bands. This also helps in most appropriate use of the spectrum and also increases its efficiency. But the main challenge in CR-WSN is to identify the availability of the channels or spectrum. Thus, we proposed a design of cluster formation-spectrum prediction (CF-SP) algorithm to identify the idle nature of spectrum usage. CR-WSN has much risk than traditional network model because of its dynamic nature. The adoption of cognitive characteristics with WSN provides trustworthy network. It needs more work in the area of security. So, this chapter focuses on providing security channel for CR-WSN. The fundamentals of CR technology are discussed, and the challenges of WSN are reviewed. The varieties of security attacks are defined, and the countermeasures of each attack are also discussed.Anna University
