ABSTRACT

Arguably, the most distinctive feature of an edited volume is that its meaning is given by the combined effect of its pieces. This often lends such works a somewhat programmatic character that should nevertheless not interfere with the independence and integrity of each particular contribution. On the contrary, the uniqueness of each article should be enhanced by the very effect of supplying elements for the broader perspective under construction. Firstly, relationality, if understood as the operation of conceiving a subject matter without incurring either in the reification of its constituent elements or in the hypostasis of the relations that allow for bringing them together, can be seen as a heuristics. Depending on the subject, relationality may have little salience but become nevertheless a dimension of discrete analytical innovation. The interface of relationality with the topic of inequality leads to the second point: a depiction of the latter in terms of a dynamics.
