ABSTRACT

The leadership responsibilities required of the holder of the position are numerous, but pertain nearly exclusively to activities concerning undergraduate recruitment and school/college visits. A tangential but equally important requirement is that the author ensure academic colleagues, predominantly those who focus on teaching, are kept abreast of the changing nature of A-Level assessment and the background of our typical applicant. By placing considerable weight on the opinions of those there to support the task at hand, it allows them to become personally invested in ensuring our joint success, both within the department and the university at large. Students learn skills in finance and computing – both in very high demand by employers.
