ABSTRACT
New options for online access to journal article references are rapidly unfolding. With cheaper, faster computers and better software, libraries are developing a variety of approaches to provide access to the journal literature. They have loaded bibliographic databases into local online catalogs, mounted them on mainframe computers, joined cooperative programs, built gateway access to remote databases into local computers, and networked CD-ROMs to expand user access to journal articles.
