ABSTRACT

The Bernese periacetabular osteotomy (PAO), originally introduced in 1988 by Ganz et al. (“Ganz osteotomy”) for the treatment of adult hip dysplasia, is widely accepted and applied for early osteoarthritis stages of young adults and adolescents with hip dysplasia. It involves repositioning of the freely movable acetabular fragment with internal rotation, extension, and medial translation.
