ABSTRACT

Relationships, perceptions, and knowledge about non-human species influence adult and child approaches to living among a community of other creatures. Yet, approaches toward a sustainable future too often exclude human and non-human relationship within an Anthropocentric mindset, which damages relations with and care of the natural world and its inhabitants. Born constructs a theoretical framework that frames intentional relationships with other species, asserting that re-thinking our relations with nonhuman animals is imperative for a sustainable future.
