Leadership has been “vital in every historic period and in every culture” as “some of our greatest cultural, social, political, and artistic accomplishments are attributed to leadership, as have many political catastrophes and social ills” (Klenke, 1996, p. 1). In today’s political and cultural climate, this term engenders passion, love, fear, disappointment, and a host of other emotions” (Klenke, 1996, p. 6). Many of our daily conversations are filled with discussions and debates about the true meanings of leadership, the lack of sound leadership, and the need for more ethical and effective leaders in our government, organizations, and communities.
