ABSTRACT

Chapter 1 consists of an interview with Joyce Edward – a 93-year-old analyst and psychoanalytic social worker who offers her long view of long-term treatment. She was fortunate to have studied with such luminaries as Gertrude Blanck, Margaret Mahler, Martin Bergman, Lawrence Friedman, Jacob Arlow and Roy Schafer, and has a particular view of the evolution of long-term relational psychotherapy.
