ABSTRACT

HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE Each year almost 1.5 million childbearing U.S. women have cesarean deliveries, and this population continues to increase. Most of these are primary CDs but, the largest single indication for CD is prior CD, accounting for over half a million CDs each year (1). In order to reduce this trend, there is a need to both reduce the frequency of a first CD and increase the use of a TOLAC in appropriate candidates.
