ABSTRACT

A single rescue course of betamethasone, two 12-mg dose 24 hours apart, received before 33 weeks at least 14 or more days after the first course, which was administered before 30 weeks, is associated with decreased RDS, ventilatory support, surfactant use, and composite neonatal morbidity (RR 0.65, 95% CI 0.44-0.97) (15,16). Instead, just one rescue “dose” is not associated with benefits in one RCT (17).
