ABSTRACT

This article presents aspects of the management experience of a private regional airline in Romania and the local interfaces with the human factors in civil aviation, as a case in Central Europe. After a short explanation of the airline’s general problems during the transition to a new regime, the article continues to analyze the managerial experience during the years 1994 until 1996 in a period when many air accidents and incidents have occurred as never before in the Romanian air transportation history. The article continues with aspects regarding the GPS utilization along with the flight operational experience and safety problems relative to GPS. The last part of this article presents the approaches in the importance for the air-accident prevention, as well as the first steps towards the Stress Factor Forecast Programme. The article concludes that during the first years after the local reforms in air transportation and privatization the main objectives of the airline managers should be the flight safety and the human factors interference relative to safety.
