ABSTRACT

Laparoscopy has limited use in intersex patients, many of whom are diagnosed without direct visualization of the internal genitals. Congenital adrenal hyperplasia, for example, rarely needs laparoscopy, as the internal genitalia are normal (as confirmed on ultrasonography) and reconstruction of the external genitalia is done via the perineum. There are, however, a number of clear situations in which laparoscopy is indicated.
