ABSTRACT

Acidophilus milk products are usually fermented but because of the acid avor, consumer’s acceptance declined. To make it more palatable, other forms and, especially, non-fermented or sweet acidophilus milk were developed. e dierent types of milk products containing Lb. acidophilus are acidophilus milk, sweet acidophilus milk, acidophilus yeast milk, acidophilin, acidophilus paste, acidophilus ice cream, acidophilus cheese, and so on. In addition to food products containing acidophilus, there are various pharmaceutical preparations that fall in the category of drugs/supplements in the form of freeze-dried bacteria that are used for gastrointestinal disturbances.
