ABSTRACT

The node anomalies may be caused due to resource degradation, node failures and restarts, physical attack, and malfunctioning. In physical attacks, nodes are captured and they are replicated through cloning. The network anomaly is instigated by unavailability or interference in transmission frequency (jamming attack), failure of network components such as gateway, node failure, or malicious attacks. The network anomalies are also caused by exploiting weaknesses in routing protocols [5,6]. The anomalies caused due to loss of connectivity, intermittent connectivity, routing loop, and broadcast storms are also known as network anomalies. The types of anomalies along with few potential causes are listed in Table 11.1 [4].
