ABSTRACT
The aim of cardiovascular support is to perfuse vital organs
with sufficient blood to meet their oxygen and metabolic
requirements and waste elimination needs without initiat-
ing or maintaining pathological effects. A large proportion
of patients admitted to critical care units have a comprom-
ised cardiovascular system, and cardiovascular support is a
vital aspect of their management.
