ABSTRACT

Various environmental factors are important in the causation of human cancer. The role of smoking, diet, sexual habits and certain infections are usually analysed at the level of individuals, since they are properties of those individuals. The effects of some important exogenous exposures, such as ultraviolet and ionising radiation, and ambient air and water pollution, depend on where people live, where they work and as a result analyses call for geographical thinking.
