Epilepsy is a major public health problem worldwide and over 80% of people with epilepsy, are thought to be in developing countries. Reported prevalence of epilepsy is very high in some developing countries and varies from 5 to 20%o.1'4 The climatic, economic, and cultural conditions are quite different from developed coun­ tries and provide epilepsy a unique profile.
