ABSTRACT

Introduction Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is one of the most difficult and challenging

laparoscopic procedures routinely performed today. It requires advanced skills and knowledge of both the fields of bariatric surgery and laparoscopy, familiarity with both shon and long term follow-up of patients, as well as early postoperative technical and delayed long-term nutritional and metabolic complications. Those issues will be discussed in other chapters. The topic of this chapter is to provide a detailed technical step by step description of the procedure.
