ABSTRACT
Prerequisite to understanding abnormal development is a firm grasp of normal development. An overview of normal mammalian development is provided in this volume by Donahoe and MacLaughlin, and the dynamic changes occurring in the embryo/fetus are reflected by equally dynamic changes in sensitivity to environmental insults. Timing of some key developmental events in humans and experimental animal species is presented in Table 2.
