ABSTRACT

Security challenges emerge due to the ad hoc and dynamic nature of mobile ad hoc networks (MANET), in which devices do not know each other a priori, but still need to develop spontaneous interactions between themselves. This precludes the idea of preshared secret keys. Further, traditional key exchange or key agreement approaches, such as Diffie-Hellman [1], are not applicable without modification in wireless environments due to their vulnerability to an MiTM attack.
