ABSTRACT

Introduction Accurate anatomic and physiologic diagnosis is the foundation of a successful catheter based therapeutic procedure. As such, a number of complementary imaging modalities have been developed to define, in real time, specific aspects of the heart and circulation for interventional applications. In the evolution of our understanding of the cardiovascular system, angiography with fluoroscopy was the first to be developed, and the angiography suite remains the cornerstone around which the interventional suite is built.
