Choosing a Thoracic Ultrasound Machine
Image storage or printing Being able to quickly and easily store or print images taken on a machine is a useful feature. Many departments will require this facility for audit trails, as well as for training, educational, and billing purposes. The ideal solution is that images can be stored directly on a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) as part of the patient’s formal imaging record. In reality, this level of connectivity can be problematic and simpler alternatives may be required. Thus, it is important to know if the device can store images, and whether these are in a commonly used format such as JPEG. In addition, it is important to confirm that, once stored, images can be easily extracted from the memory using ubiquitous connectors such as universal serial bus (USB).
