By the time a clinical diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) can be made, widespread brain damage has already occurred and current therapies are not thought to alter disease progression. As a result, there is an urgent need for strategies to delay dementia onset. Identification of risk factors for the disease is a critical step towards that goal.
