Introduction

This book describes Bayesian statistical methods for the design and analysis of studies involving medical test accuracy. It grew out of the author’s experience in consulting with many investigators of the Division of Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) in Houston, Texas. In a modern medical center, medical test accuracy is crucial for patient management, from the initial diagnosis to assessing the extent of disease as the patient is being treated.
