ABSTRACT

One recent series reported 19 live births in 22 women following a Strassman procedure (13). However, similar improvements have also been reported following the less complex procedure of cervical cerclage (9). At least one series indicated that reproductive outcome in untreated women improved with successive pregnancies, suggesting a beneficial effect of repeated distention on uterine capacity (11). It, therefore, appears that the Strassman procedure for bicornuate unification should be reserved for highly selected patients with otherwise unexplained recurrent pregnancy losses.
